Energy Infrastructure Workforce Workshop

Wednesday, May 13, 2026 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Employer and Workforce Training Partners,

Thank you so much for your continued engagement in our Energy Infrastructure Workforce Initiative. Your involvement is helping shape a coordinated, employer-driven approach to building Connecticut’s future energy workforce.

Over the past four months, The WorkPlace, Inc., in partnership with the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, has

  • Hosted two energy company information sessions
  • Conducted 10 individual, in-depth company interviews
  • Engaged training partners, educational institutions, and workforce partners to access current capabilities
  • Met with the Director of Apprenticeships for the State Department of Labor to align on opportunities

We are now moving from information gathering to co-creation.

We invite you to join us for the next phase:

Energy Infrastructure Workforce Workshop

Wednesday, May 13, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

CT State Housatonic Community College – Lafayette Hall Room L108
(Parking is available in the garage off Lafayette Boulevard.)

This working session will bring employers and training partners together to define the courses, certifications, and pathways needed to support both new entrants and incumbent workers transitioning into energy careers.

One concept we will explore is a Multi-Discipline Energy Awareness Certificate that can serve high school students, community college students, and adult learners.

At this workshop, we will:

  • Discuss the statewide inventory of existing energy infrastructure training programs
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for alignment
  • Strengthen employer-training partnerships
  • Begin outlining a coordinated, employer-informed training framework

Please reach out to Denise Weaver at Denise@brbc.org or 203-335-3800 x118 with any questions.

We look forward to working together to build a stronger, more aligned energy workforce in Connecticut.

Sincerely,

Dan Onofrio
